volleyball game

It's Saturday morning nine am and time to schlep Erin to the South Milwaukee Middle School gym for some volleyball. Her team is playing against another one that is undefeated so far this season.

A player on the opposing team serves the ball. Erin sets her feet 18 inches apart and waits; she forms the familiar V shape with her arms and hands; her eye follows the ball. Up the ball goes high above the net and makes the usual parabolic curve as it peaks and travels back to the other side. Erin is ready. Closer it comes and Erin is ready. Erin bends at the knees at the same time she lowers her hands. Whop, Erin makes solid contact with the ball sending the sphere flying back over to the other side of the net. She and her team play hard and fast but the other team is just a little tiny bit faster. Erin's team loses two sets to one. It's a real heart breaker.

What position do you play Erin?

Paul, Erin said she does not play any particular position. The team rotates around. Say hi to Sarah and Sharon.

Cute clips. Glad to hear everything is going well. Mike and I took a walk today. With the fall colors starting to turn, it reminded me of our walk with Sandy when we where last in Milwaukee. Mike and I have been trying to get out every evening. Hope you are too. Sometimes the walks are short, sometimes long. But it always feels like a sucess when we take the time. How are your walks going?

Well, with the Packers finally winning a game and this week's weather predition being nice, looks like it will be a start to something special. Here are a few phrases caught off of bumber stickers....some co-workers have a few of these tacked to their cubical walls:
- I started out with nothing and still have most of it left.
- Suburbia: where they tear out the trees & then name streets after them.
- A cubicle is just a padded cell without a door.
- Chaos, panic and disorder -- my work here is done.
- I thought I wanted a career; turns out I just wanted paychecks.

Luv, hugs, and kisses - Mike and Sally
PS - we had a great time visiting with Sandy. it was so relaxing being able to just talk, have lunch, and walk. even though it was raining like crazy on the way home, the ride was pleasant because they were filled with joyful comments about our visit. we would love to do it again, this time on a Thursday and we can stay to see the rest of the family and maybe have dinner too. give Mike a call.
